This Privacy Policy explains how The Speech Improvement Company collects, uses, stores, and protects information for Speech Companion, Speech.net, and related web and mobile services.

The Speech Improvement Company, Inc. ("TSIC," "we," "us," or "our") provides Speech Companion and Speech.net to help people prepare, practice, and improve communication. This policy applies to our website, web portal, iOS app, Android app, watch apps, and related services that link to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly, information created as you use the service, and limited technical information needed to operate the product.
- Account information: name, email address, authentication status, profile settings, role, coach/client relationships, and subscription or entitlement status.
- Speech preparation content: notes, scripts, outlines, projects, job interview materials, sales preparation content, comments, chat messages, and other text you choose to enter.
- Practice and recording data: audio recordings, video recordings, transcripts, timing information, notes, tags, and related practice session metadata.
- AI interaction data: prompts, chat messages, generated drafts, feedback, summaries, and usage metadata needed to provide AI-powered coaching features.
- Device and app information: device type, operating system, app version, crash diagnostics, notification tokens, analytics events, and similar technical information.
- Optional health-related data: if you use BioSpeech or watch-based features, the app may process heart-rate or sensor-related session data you choose to record or sync.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to provide, maintain, protect, and improve Speech Companion and Speech.net, including to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Sync your projects, sessions, recordings, comments, and settings across devices.
- Provide speech practice tools, transcripts, AI feedback, AI drafting, and coaching workflows.
- Enable coach/client collaboration when you choose to connect with a coach or share content.
- Send service-related notifications, reminders, and account messages.
- Diagnose bugs, measure product performance, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies.
3. AI Features
Speech Companion includes AI-powered features that can help draft content, summarize materials, provide feedback, answer questions, and generate practice resources. When you use these features, relevant content you submit may be processed by our cloud systems and third-party AI service providers solely to provide the requested feature. We do not use your private Speech Companion content to train public AI models.
You control what you enter into the product. Do not submit confidential, regulated, legal, medical, financial, proprietary, or highly sensitive information unless you have permission and are comfortable processing that information through the service.
4. Audio, Video, Transcripts, and Health-Related Features
If you record a practice session, use a teleprompter recording feature, generate a transcript, or use BioSpeech/watch features, the service may store or process audio, video, transcript, timing, and optional heart-rate information connected to that session. These features are intended for communication coaching and self-improvement. They are not medical devices and are not intended to diagnose, treat, or monitor any medical condition.
5. Sharing and Collaboration
You may choose to share content with a coach, team, or other authorized user. When you do, those users may be able to view, comment on, or otherwise interact with the content you shared according to the permissions available in the product. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Third-Party Services
We use trusted service providers to operate Speech Companion and Speech.net. These may include:
- Google Firebase and Google Cloud: authentication, database, storage, cloud functions, analytics, messaging, and hosting infrastructure.
- AI service providers: processing prompts and content when you request AI-powered features.
- Payment and subscription providers: processing subscription or billing-related workflows where applicable.
- App platform providers: Apple App Store, Google Play, and device operating system services for app distribution, notifications, diagnostics, and platform functionality.
These providers may process information on our behalf subject to their own terms and privacy practices.
7. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Some deleted project or session data may be retained temporarily in backups or recovery systems before permanent deletion.
8. Account Deletion and Data Requests
You may request account deletion by following the steps on our Account Deletion page. You may also ask questions about your data by contacting us at developer@speechimprovement.com. Please include the email address associated with your Speech Companion account so we can locate it. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including secure authentication and established cloud infrastructure. No online service can guarantee absolute security, and users should take care to protect account credentials and choose carefully what they upload or enter.
10. Children's Privacy
Speech Companion is intended for professional, educational, and adult communication coaching contexts. It is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
11. International Users
Speech Companion is operated from the United States. If you use the service from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our providers operate.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service after an update means the updated policy applies.
